Changing a case number

I have a client with two children they each have a case number. Unfortunately I gave them case 2 and 3 when they are actually 1 and 2. Is there a way to change the case numbers without deleting the whole file and re entering their information?
I named them 2 and 3 from the beginning because a few years ago-before using ekyros she had been a client .
We started numbering the cases from clients January 1, 2017 when we began using ekyros --previous cases prior to 1-1-17 are numbered differently (by the old system we used) |

Hi CindyR,
It's great to hear from you! The system automatically numbers the cases in sequential order, as they are added to the system. You cannot change the number of a case or File ID, if the cases are 002 and 003 it is because there originally was a case 001 that was actually deleted at some point. You cannot change the number of the case and would have to delete all activity and cases and re-enter (you would not have to delete the File itself). It does not affect statistics as it only counts the actual number of cases, not going based on the case number. So for the example provided it would only reflect 2 cases.

| I just merged two files for the same client following the directions ekyros gave in the help section. I understood it to say that it would combine cases and number them based on the dates of service, but it did not. It looks like there is no way to change this. Appreciate any feedback so that we can figure out what to do with future files. Thank you! |

Hello, melguz! Thank you for reaching out. When merging files, you need to make sure that you use the file that was created last (larger file id) as the Source file (file to be deleted) and the oldest file id as the Destination file (file to be saved). Doing this will merge the activity forms (cases) in sequential order.

Hi Melguz,
Yes, Maggie is correct, usually the lower File ID was created first and has the older cases however you can always review and see the order and date of cases in the third column "Destination File
(Merge Results)" moving forward it is important to review this and ensure it is merging in the order you want. If it is backwards (newest first) you can click the back button and adjust the source/destination file numbers. |

| Thank you, Maggie. I will give you a call. I think what happened is that there were two files for this client for some time so multiple cases were added in each and the last case or most recent case was added to the old file. I'll be in touch. Thank you! |
